Flowers have always fascinated me and hence this design contains flowers. Its a bit fantasy oriented too. Green is not my favorite color but this is the 3rd green themed design for this site. Sometimes I do surprise myself. I have tried to keep the coding very simple and it is HTML 4.01 strict compliant so far. I am sure there will creep up some invalidation somewhere as more and more content gets added. So in case some of you who still look at my site find something uncompliant let me know. The layout is consistent across all browsers except IE6 for me where it does look weird in some resolutions. I really tried my best to make it look good in IE6 but I just couldnt do it fully But I will keep trying as I have not yet ported all content to this site so I still have time to finalize the layout

I am going to put together many content from various different sites of mine into this one, so the site will grow gradually so keep a lookout for that. And yeah  I have promised myself to blog regularly now. You know how many times I made that promise to myself. So let me try to get it right this time hehehe. Cya later.

WordPress has a separate installation called WordPress MU where you can create multiple Sites/Blogs using its Admin interface. Textpattern has recently added multi-site capability from 4.2.0 version onwards. Which ones do I use? I decided on WordPress MU. Textpattern’s multi-site capability was simple enough but I didnt want to add Virtual Hosts manually for it which it requires. I felt that WordPress MU was a better option.

So now lots of changes will occur as I bring all my sites together. Wish me luck.

My days with Alcatel-Lucent are over. I quit there and 30th December was my last working day with them. The new year has paved way for me joining my new workplace, Brocade Communications. Do I like it here? Yes so far. Lots of factors really. It is a small company in terms of manpower compared to Wipro and Alcatel. So yep I wont be lost here. Also work is there a lot and I am getting to test features which are virgin – as in not tested and touched by anyone. This was one of the fun discussions I had with my colleagues during the first 2 weeks. Its been now 3 weeks here and so far whatever I have is positive. I hope this continues. I really want stability and fun in my job. I should get the feeling every morning waking up like yes I am going to office and I will work in this and this.. It used to happen at Wipro when I was in the IPI project but after that it completely went away. It went to the extent of me dragging myself every morning and considering if I wanna go to work. I dont want my professional life to be like this. So far with Brocade this situation has not arisen and I hope it never does.

My flat at Calcutta is my own now Well I bought it last year then how come it is my own now you might wonder? Well during the 1st week of Jan I went to Calcutta and got it registered. So officially its on my name yayyyyyy to me

Lots of other stuff are on in my life. Sumi and me are now gradually trying to go into full fledged savings mode and removing our debts as much as possible. All this due to the fact that we are planning a huge investment in Bangalore probably early 2011. We are planning to buy a flat. The thought is still in its infancy so will see how it shapes up. But for that we need funds. Even though around 80% of it will be through Housing Loans still the remaining expenses need to met by us.

Web design stuff is going fine too. I am planning some new designs hopefully everything will get shaped up nicely

So all purposes this is now my personal domain. I had this one for at least 2 years now but this only had my extra stuff before. It will take few days to move all my stuff from old domain to this site.

Force India got their first Formula One points. Yay to that. I cant believe Fisichella came in 2nd. Hope they keep the momentum. This was the only team not to score any points this season so yep its high time they did it. I still cant forget the Monaco race last year when Raikkonen’s car smashed into Sutil towards the end of the race when Sutil was almost sure of getting a podium finish.

Sumi and I are almost done working in our cooking website. It will be up soon. I love the design she made and for the first time I did the entire XHTML coding thats compliant and usable yay!!

India Info Centre now runs completely with WordPress. Why did I move? It was just a practice for the recipe site as I want that to be on WordPress. This site is still running in Textpattern though.

These days I have my parents living with me and I am just having loads of fun. Though now that dad’s here he needs to get all his checkups and surgeries done. The right eye cataract is done and he is recuperating now. Wednesday is his first followup meeting with the doc and hopefully he is healing well and get his new glasses. Once the eye heals properly I will get him consult a Neuro and a Urosurgeon. The names rhyme but these are serious concerns for him. I just hope his kidney stones have not gone bad and his occasional fainting is not anything serious.

So whats good these days. Mom’s cooking yep Since she’s been here she’s the one cooking and Sumi is enjoying. Well poor thing with her regular headaches she always gets tired Hopefully we get her Sinus operation done soon. The doc says whatever problem she’s having now everything is due to the Sinus.

My work life is going ok. Its been slow but so far I have caught up with everything. Some perception and misunderstanding are there but I guess they are part and parcel of any workplace and I really can’t avoid them.

Coming to websites, well lots of plans but nothing is coming to reality hehehe. Most important is completing this Shubhomeet site itself. Everything is in place but there is still a lot I wish to do. Hope they get done soon by me. Sumi and me are planning a joint cookery blog and needless to say the design’s got to be hers So yea we are going there slowly. And I still have to get up a website for our marriage pics. The people at GOF are pestering me hehehe. And they should its been over 1 year now and they didnt see any of them So this lazy butt is gonna start doing all these. Hopefully I can.

Its going slow in competition world. Web Leagues goes on summer break in 2 more weeks. But the great me has decided a open a new comp, War of the Websites – The Weekend Challenge. Its different because it is going to be the first ever competition that runs only during the weekend. I know many people get bored during the holidays and such so I gave this a try. Its going to be a small competition and I hope people join. Some people do get bored during the long summer breaks that all competitions take. I normally do not get bored the first month but then start. I welcome the break of 2-3 months from being a staff member. In order to let my new comp catch on I have decided to open it during the summer break months. I hope some people join it just to cure their boredom. Wish me luck.
